Call for first-year student research on anti-Asian racism and the pandemic

The College Writing Program is working with the Center for Diversity and Inclusion to put together a webpage featuring excerpts from our first-year students’ research on the rise of anti-Asian racism during the pandemic. Ideally, this will provide a platform for Asian and Asian-American students to find a broader audience for their work and make connections with other scholars in the community, while sharing their insights on this timely issue. If your research essay from the spring semester falls into this category, please consider participating in this CDI spotlight.

Participation would not require very much additional work beyond the research you have completed for the College Writing course, and it would be a beneficial addition to a CV or resume. Students will have the option of offering their own 1-2 page excerpt or sending their work to Dr. Erika Rodriguez, who will select a short excerpt for them to approve for posting. If selected, students will be asked to create a 3-5 minute video in which they discuss one aspect of their research and why it matters to them (personally, socially, intellectually, etc.).

Please send any questions, nominations, or submissions to e.rodriguez@wustl.edu by June 8, 2020.
