Fall 2015 Dean James E. McLeod Freshman Writing Prize winners announced

Congratulations to Emma LaPlante and Akua Owusu-Dommey for being this year's recipients of the Dean James E. McLeod Freshman Writing Prize!

The Dean James E. McLeod Freshman Writing Prize was created to encourage students and recognize exemplary research and writing.

The fall 2015 recipients of the McLeod Writing Prize are Emma LaPlante, for her essay “The Once Disabled King: Disability and Humanity in the King’s Speech,” and Akua Owusu-Dommey, for her essay “A How to Guide to Having Dark Skin and Trying (but failing) to Love It."

Honorable mentions include Kelley Zhao for her essay “The Roots of Hop Alley’s Demise.”
